FEDERAL ELECTION & THE JEWISH COMMUNITY: JOIN OUR FORUMS

UPCOMING FEDERAL ELECTIONS

I have no doubt that you have noticed, but there has been an election called for May 3.

The JCCV is an apolitical organisation, we will not direct Jewish voters to vote for a particular parties or candidate. But what we are going to do, is provide our community with an opportunity to hear from the candidates most likely to represent the two seats with the highest Jewish population in Victoria.

The JCCV is co-hosting two election forums, one in Goldstein and the other in Macnamara. All community members, regardless of where you vote, are invited to attend.

There are many strong opinions about certain candidates and political parties and their approach to the Jewish community and to Israel, at this election more than any other. I urge you to come to these forums and hear how those candidates and parties defend these positions.

PREFERENCING CANDIDATES

The other thing the JCCV will be doing ahead of this election, is helping the community to understand the importance of careful preferencing of candidates on ballot papers. The Australian Electoral Commission, which runs the federal election, has a very short video explaining how preferences work.

It is important to number all the boxes, including putting your least preferred candidate last.
