DEFINING ANTISEMITISM: A VICTORIAN EXPERIENCE

This report seeks to assist policymakers, law enforcement, business leaders and the media to understand the complex and often misunderstood concepts of antisemitism and Zionism, from the perspective of the Victorian Jewish community.

It has been compiled following extensive consultation over an extended period of time with representatives of a diverse range of local Jewish organisations, including a series of  surveys and interviews conducted specifically for this report, as well as desktop research.

VICTORIAN ANTISEMITISM REPORT

The Victorian Antisemitism Report is published jointly by the JCCV and the Community Security Group. It provides a register of incidents of antisemitism in Melbourne and regional Victoria, and provides insights and analysis.

The data contained within the 2023 Victorian Antisemitism Report tells a worrying but not unexpected story.

Victorian Jews have felt welcome and safe at home for many decades. But the sense our community has is that this is at risk. Look through the long list in the appendix, behind each of these incidents is at least one Jewish person, often more, who have been made to feel unsafe and unwelcome.
