City of Melbourne Councillors visited East Melbourne Hebrew Congregation to help find solutions to ensure the CBD is a welcoming place for all, including Jewish people.
The JCCV has been asked to share the following message with our community, on behalf of the Victorian Department of Education. The JCCV is proud of the work we are doing, together with other Jewish experts, to ensure Jewish students are welcomed at Victorian government schools.
Councillors representing the cities of Bayside, Banyule, Boroondara, Glen Eira, Port Phillip, Stonnington and Yarra attended a Jewish Community Council of Victoria (JCCV) Councillors’ Forum at historic Melbourne Hebrew Congregation.
Representatives from 17 Jewish community organisations met last week to discuss steps to support women currently in Jewish community leadership positions and ways to create opportunities for more women to take on leadership roles.
For the first time, Victorians will have a better understanding of the nature and prevalence of antisemitism in their state.
In an effort to ensure Jewish patients receive culturally sensitive care when they stay in hospital, the Jewish Community Council of Victoria, in partnership with Beit Rafael, has produced a brand-new booklet called A Guide to Caring for Jewish Patients.
Following the Maccabiah Games Bridge Collapse in July 1997, which took the lives of four Australian athletes and injured many others, our community developed a coordinated response to crisis.
